Pool Party Time!
It had been a while since we had brought out the kiddie pool, and we weren't even sure if they would remember it. They pretty much just picked right back up where they left off last year.
We have gotten to the point again when I start questioning the wisdom of living in Texas in the summertime. I like Texas in general, but summers are just not always fun. So what do you do with this many dogs when it's too hot to even go to the beach? Pool Party Time! It had been a while since we had brought out the kiddie pool, and we weren't even sure if they would remember it. They pretty much just picked right back up where they left off last year. Unfortunately pool parties don't last very long at our house because as soon as they've played in the water for a few minutes, they are nice and cool and ready to play. So this happens: Then this happens: Then this: And the water ends up looking like this: Luckily there's plenty of entertainment inside too. There's napping, kitties, napping with kitties. Of course, in all fairness, the kitties nap pretty much everywhere. Kitty B takes first prize for napping in odd places. She decided that Dad's computer was pretty comfortable. While he was trying to use it.
Times like these sometimes make me wish we lived further north. Today's high? 1 million degrees. Tomorrow's high? 1 million and 1!
Why must it be so hot? When you're in the house, sometimes you get the feeling that the a/c isn't working as well as it should be. Then you step outside for a few minutes. When you step back in, you realize that the a/c is working fine, it's just that hot outside. Needless to say, the puppies have been getting a lot of use out of their little pool. Here are a few pictures taken over the past week of their backyard fun. They've realized that they can run around and get hot, then jump in the pool to cool off. After what seems like ages, we finally went back to puppy school today. The puppies were so excited they could hardly contain themselves. They knew just where to go. If we had been on roller blades, they would have pulled us straight through the automatic door. It was so steamy outside, they led us straight to the water fountain, after stopping to say hi to the trainer on the way. The puppies absolutely love puppy school! We really like puppy school too. It is more than just a place to go to learn how to sit and stay. You really learn a lot about your dogs when you go through training with them. You get a chance to see their personalities come out, and they get a chance to show you how good they can be and how much they can learn. Training with them really does seem to bring you and your dogs even closer. Notice in the picture above how Miss B is learning the skill they are working on, but checks back in with us. She is full of energy and can be quite the rascal, but in reality, she is really smart and just gets bored quickly. Despite her rascal-ness, she wants nothing more than to please us and is happy to do things without treats as long as we tell her she's a good girl and she knows we are happy. The girls remembered just where Ms. A keeps her treats. After school, we let the puppies play in the water hose to cool off before taking a nap.
